AMD Introduces Socket AM4

AMD socket AM4

AMD has introduced major changes in architecture at CES 2016, including the introduction of his car graphics chip, Polaris, and now it introduces a new standard in the socket for desktop processors with the introduction of socket AM4.

Motherboard with socket AM4 will support the new DDR4 RAM memory and USB port-C, but most important is that it brings together the AMD CPU and APU products under a single socket. This means users can install either a new processor Summit Ridge (rumored to be 8-core CPU) or APU Bristol Ridge in the socket.

This allows users because they do not have to make additional research to find out which socket is required for a particular processor. Furthermore, socket AM4 will be on all types of computers whether you want to build a normal PC, gaming PC or workstation.

In addition, AMD also introduced the APU A10-7890K which will remain in use socket AM3 + and AM2 +. With that CPU and GPU that is not locked, users can overclock up to 4.3GHz APU. It supports FreeSync monitor technology and USB 3.1 and comes with SSD SATA connectors M.2.

APU also comes with air Wraith Cooler with metal blades that rotate at a constant speed. AMD claims conditioning works 90% quieter on 39dba, but still can move 35% more air. To that end, AMD has designed it with a larger heatsink surface cooling fins which have 24% greater.
