Android Malware Can Penetrate Security Systems Voice

Android.Bankosy

Digital security company Symantec recently discovered a new malware that allows a hacker to break into security systems that use two-factor authorization or two-factor authorization (2FA).

Malware named Android.Bankosy is said to be able to trick the 2FA system, known as the safest technology security systems at this time.

2FA itself is a voice-based security system. This system has been widely used by corporations that store sensitive data such as financial corporations.

Unlike previous versions that use SMS to notify the authentication code to the user, 2FA using voice over a phone call to inform an authentication code. The system is considered safe because it is not easy for a program to analyze the data received voice calls.

Nevertheless, malware Android.Bankosy uses a unique approach to breaking into the system. Symantec said that Android.Bankosy started the action by sending a request to the server access codes.

After that, the server will automatically send authentication codes to mobile phones using voice dialing the destination that has been infected. Android.Bankosy server then diverts calls to certain numbers automatically for later heard by the hacker.

Symantec also said Android.Bankosy work smart enough. When it has infected a specific device, it will automatically transfer the call without leaving a trace. Users do not even know if he got a phone call is diverted.

To prevent the Symantec advises users to do the following things:
- Make sure all software updates properly.
- Avoid downloading applications from suspicious sites.
- Only install applications from trusted sources.
- Examine the requested license request an application.
- Install a security application to protect your device and your data.
- Make backup important data regularly.
